Management Development

Assess7 can help your organisation identify the level of current and potential managerial competence.
In a survey of 3000 organisations, conducted by the CBI and the Regional Development Agencies, the development of managerial skills was seen as the most significant area where an improvement in skills would have the greatest benefit on business performance (CIPD 2005).

The difference to the success of an organization is having a manager who can lead, rather than one who can’t. Leadership is an attribute which some people have and some don’t. Leadership can be developed if the innate potential is present in an individual however you need to identify those individuals with leadership potential. Using a range of specific managerial assessment tools (Scenarios, Brainstorm, Fastrack) Assess7 assists organisations to identify their current or potential managers/leaders.

From the results obtained through assessment, Assess7 provide advice on developing the identified competencies and suggest solutions for addressing development needs, supported by coaching and mentoring strategies where appropriate.

Professor Michael Porter (leading Harvard University academic on Competitive Advantage) comments that the only true competitive advantage most organizations have is the management or leadership they have. Competitive advantage can only be achieved through unique talent, outstanding performance, high productivity, flexibility, innovation, and the ability to deliver exceptional customer service. Such organisations can not afford mediocre management.

Porter’s view is supported by Gerry Robinson (from TV programme – I’ll show them who’s boss) who believes that a vital aspect of making an organisation successful is to find the right people for management positions who can lead others. It is therefore key to invest serious time and energy to the task of finding, recruiting and developing exceptional managers.

Are your managers MEDIOCRE or EXCEPTIONAL?
