Coaching & Mentoring
Coaching helps employees to develop skills and address any gaps quickly and cost-effectively. It should be part of an employee’s development plan. Assess7 provides a range of assessments (including Emotional Intelligence Inventories*) to enable the identification of the most appropriate development strategy for individuals, whether this is training, coaching or mentoring.
Coaching is arguably one of the most exciting growth areas in the art and science of people management. The CIPD's Learning, Training and Development Survey (2005) noted that 75% of respondents thought the use of coaching was set to rise whilst over 80% thought it either effective or very effective as an approach.
Coaching is about developing an employees existing skills and knowledge to new, higher levels by linking their desired goals to their existing values. The key reason however behind the success of coaching as a development tool is in its ability to provide "structured development within the real pressure of business life" ("Target Practice", People Management 2004).
*Emotional Intelligence (EI) helps individuals to see how well they understand their own feelings and highlights their awareness of others’ feelings/emotions both of which are key skills of inter-personal relationships.
